Soul Bird psychology
At Soul Bird Psychology, we offer focused, evidence-based therapy for adults experiencing the emotional impact of trauma & complex trauma, depression, and anxiety.
We understand how early and past experiences can shape us in powerful ways, often outside of conscious awareness. These experiences can give rise to patterns of emotional pain, disconnection, self-criticism, or difficulties in relationships. Even when life appears “fine” on the surface, the inner world can feel confusing, overwhelming, or stuck.
Our practice is grounded in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) a trauma-informed, emotion-focused approach that goes beyond symptom management. This model helps to identify and work through the unconscious emotional conflicts that underlie psychological distress. By addressing what’s happening beneath the surface, therapy becomes an opportunity for meaningful emotional healing and lasting change.
Therapy at Soul Bird Psychology is active, respectful, and collaborative. We work at a pace that feels safe, while gently supporting you to face what’s been painful or avoided, not to re-traumatise, but to free up the emotional energy tied to the past. The goal is not only symptom relief but also a deeper reconnection with your inner strength, emotional clarity, and capacity for close, fulfilling relationships.
We are based in Mornington and welcome clients from across the Mornington Peninsula. For those further afield or preferring greater flexibility, online sessions are also available.
“Deep down inside our bodies,
lives the soul.
No one has ever seen it,
but we all know it’s there.
Not only do we know it’s there,
we know what’s in it, too.
Inside the soul,
right in the very middle of it,
there’s a bird standing on one foot.
This is the soul bird.
It feels everything we feel.”
